Slack app
TokenX for Slack
What the app does
- Sends each member their TokenX notifications as a direct message, with buttons to act on them.
- Invites your colleagues to TokenX: they join in one click, from Slack.
- Answers questions about your team’s AI use, in a direct message or when someone mentions it in a thread.
- Shows each member their own settings and profile in its Home tab.
Permissions it asks for
Slack lists these on its install screen. Each one serves a feature above, nothing else:
- Send messages as TokenX, to one person or to a small group: the notifications, and one group message to introduce colleagues who wrote similar skills.
- View people, their email addresses and user groups: to find which Slack account belongs to which TokenX member (by email address), to suggest departments from your user groups, and to list who to invite. Only the matching account ids are stored.
- Read messages sent to the app, and threads it is mentioned in: so the assistant can answer with the conversation so far. It reads a thread only when someone mentions it there, and a direct message only when someone writes to it. Nothing it reads is stored.
- Act as an AI assistant: the assistant panel and its suggested questions.
- Sign in with Slack: members can sign in to TokenX with their Slack account.
Install it
A TokenX admin connects Slack once for the whole workspace: in TokenX, Organization, then Settings, then Add to Slack, and approve on Slack’s screen. Members are matched to their Slack accounts right away.
TokenX is not listed in the Slack Marketplace yet, so depending on your workspace’s settings Slack may say that only workspace owners can install it. Two ways forward:
1. The workspace owner installs it. The quickest.
- In TokenX, invite the owner as an admin: Organization, then Team.
- Once signed in, they click Add to Slack in Organization, Settings, and approve.
2. The owner lets members request apps. Useful when the owner won’t use TokenX themselves.
- In Slack’s admin settings, under app management, the owner turns on app approval, so members can request apps instead of being refused.
- Your TokenX admin clicks Add to Slack and sends the request Slack offers.
- The owner approves it in Slack.
- Your TokenX admin clicks Add to Slack again to finish.
Either way, nobody else needs a Slack admin role: every member uses the app as soon as it is installed.
Remove it
A TokenX admin clicks Disconnect in Organization, Settings: we revoke the app’s access at Slack and delete the workspace and every account match. Removing the app from Slack’s own app management works too. Notifications then go by email.
Your data
Messages the app sends stay in your workspace, under your own Slack retention. We never use anything from Slack to train AI models. The assistant’s answers are written by an AI model and can be inaccurate. The details are in our privacy policy.
